NFCS has a competitive track program with some of the top track athletes both in the state of Florida and nationally. 

In 2008 Michelle Jenije (FSU) set an FHSAA track and field record with six (6) consecutive state championships in the Girls Triple Jump (2003-2008). The tradition continued in 2009 as Whitney Strickland III won his 3rd consecutive state championship in the Boys 800 meters.

During the 2011 season Darriell McQueen jumped 18’4.25″ to win the Girls Long Jump Championship, breaking her old school record of 17’10”.  Darrielle was also the state Triple Jump Champion with a jump of 39’8″, setting a new NFC school record.   Darrielle finished 9th in the state in the Girls 200 meters and 15th in the Girls 400 meters.

At the 2011 boys state meet Luke Strickland finished 10th overall in the Boys 800 meters with a time of 2:00.93.

In 2012, Darrielle McQueen won her third consecutive State Title in the Girls Triple Jump and placed 3rd overall in the Long Jump Championship. 

At the 2012 Boys State Championships Luke Strickland had an 8th place finish in the 800 meter run.  The NFC Boys 4x 800 relay team also finished in 8th place setting a new school record of 8:20.39.   Members of the relay team included Blair Strickland,Chris Rolfe, Seth Venable, and Luke Strickland.

In 2013 Christian Philpott claimed the 200m State Boys Title, while Darrielle McQueen was the State Champion in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.

In 2014 Christian Philpott and Darrielle McQueen repeated as State Champions.  Christian won the 200m for a second time and added a title for the 400m dash, while Darrielle won her 5th consecutive title in the Triple Jump.   The boys relay team finished 3rd overall in the 4 x 400 (Adrian Hill, Luke Strickland, Christian Philpott, Griff Rutherford) and Shelby Collins placed 6th in the state in the high jump. 

All American Darrielle McQueen finished her career with a total of 7 State Championships and signed to run women’s track at the University of Florida.
